Having a costume from another series be recreated both faithfully and officially is not something one could find in the Elder Scrolls games of the past, and it may set a new precedent for the series going forward.
While the gear has been implemented in a way that better suits Skyrim's visual style, the items still stand out due to how faithfully they resemble the outfit seen in Breath of the Wild. Like other weapon and armor sets in the game, this gear can be upgraded by using the mechanics from Skyrim's Smithing skill tree. To obtain this special BOTW gear, players must gather it from a chest in the Throat of the World location or utilize a Legend of Zelda amiibo while playing. Aside from being a novel addition to players' arsenals, this direct promotion of another series' signature items marked a first for The Elder Scrolls, and could open up the door for future crossovers in The Elder Scrolls 6.Īs part of the crossover, BOTW's Champion's Tunic, Master Sword, and Hylian Shield are all obtainable in Skyrim.
